Last week, India’s most valuable company Reliance Industries hosted its 43rd annual general meeting (AGM) on July 15. Reliance’s AGM has always been a sought after event in the Indian business world, but this time it’s special because of the series of deals Reliance Industries has stuck since the last meeting in August 2019.
During the event, Reliance Industries’ chairperson and managing director Mukesh Ambani announced that Google will be investing INR 33,737 Cr ($4.5 Bn) into the company for 7.73% equity stake at an equity valuation of INR 4.36 Lakh Cr. Besides that, the company has also announced several latest offerings just like Jio Glass.
Jio Glass is a mixed reality gadget that allows users to conduct 3D virtual meetings, create holographic content and can turn a normal video conference more interactive. Users can also share presentations on a virtual screen with the Jio Glass, and use the technology to have a seamless virtual experience.
Besides this, Reliance Industries also introduced JioTV+, which will curate content from various OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar, Voot, SonyLiv, Zee5, JioCinema, JioSaavn, YouTube, among others, into one app. It will be voice-search enabled. Moreover, the user would be able to voice search, not only for genres but for particular actors, directors, producers, and more.
