Last week, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, and Government of Goa hosted the annual ‘Startup India Venture Capital Summit’.
The summit which revolved around the theme ‘Mobilizing Global Capital for Innovation in India,’ witnessed participation from countries such as Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and the US.
During the event, the government and VC fund managers held discussions on how to develop the startup ecosystem.
Finland-based student-run non-profit organisation Slush hosted Slush 2018. The event saw participation from entrepreneurs, investors, founders from all over the world who shared their stories of success and failure.

The India-UK FutureTech Festival
The India and UK government together will be organising The India-UK FutureTech Festival this week as an initiative under the India-UK Technology partnership.
The event will provide a platform for roundtable discussions and opportunities for collaboration at the national and regional level in artificial intelligence (AI)/ data, India UK tech hubs, cluster partnerships, future healthcare, future mobility, fintech and cyber security.
The event was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart Theresa May in April. During the event, speakers will be discussing upcoming technologies, innovations in agricultural space, opportunities and future across fintech, healthtech etc.

GSF Techtales and Cocktails: Disruption in FinTech
Startup accelerator and early-stage fund Global Super Angels Forum (GSF) is organising GSF Techtales and Cocktails: Disruption in Fintech this week.
The event will be aimed at understanding the advancements, innovations and opportunities in fintech.
Two panel discussions will take place during the event, which will see participation from founders and investors. Both the discussions will revolve around the themes, ‘Digital Wealth: The New Frontier’ and ‘Breaking New Grounds: Indian Fintech’ where the participants will try to decode the disruptions in the fintech space in India.

Startups Club Demo Day 2018
Bengaluru-based entrepreneur community Startup Clubs will be hosting Demo Day 2018 along with Startup India, the central government’s initiative to foster startups.
Nearly 10,000 participants from across the world will be attending the event this year. Further, during the event, 30 startups will be pitching their ideas and compete for The Grand Prize.
Panel discussions will also take place during the event which will see participation from Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) deputy secretary Shruti Singh.
