As the first step in its ecommerce journey, the multi-domain INR 5,000 Cr. plus SRS Group has announced the launch of SRSgrocery.com, a one-stop destination for grocery requirements.
Conceptualised as per international standards in terms of product range, merchandising, promotions and customer focus and designed to ensure a smooth online shopping experience to customers, the website offers a wide category of items such as FMCG products, staples, beverages, home care, personal care, grooming, fruits and vegetables, cleaners and much more.
Speaking on the occasion, Founder Chairman of the SRS Group Dr. Anil Jindal said, “This unique offering is only a start and an attempt to bridge the existing gap in online offerings in the market and enter the vast and under explored territory of ecommerce. The ecommerce space in India is currently valued at INR 60,000 Cr. and has been growing at an estimated 30% CAGR. This is a part of our strategy to go ahead with diligent expansions in retail to make SRSgrocery.com a brand of preference for consumers. We are unveiling just the first chapter of SRSetail.com, which in the coming days will foray into fashion, jewellery, medical and many more such segments.”
Grocery market in India is in nascent stage right now which is growing at 25 to 30%. Players like Bigbasket, ZopNow are also operating in this space.
The SRSgrocery website has a good user interface and small delivery slots, but the most attractive part of the service is that SRS has set no limits for a Minimum Order and also the customers don’t have to pay any delivery charges. With this move, the company aims to serve new consumer segments by claiming to provide them world-class products, thrilling promos and unmatched convenience.
Over the span of these 25 years, the SRS Group has grown from a financial services company to a large, mature player that is now a well-established name in jewellery, cinemas, retail, hospitality, real estate, financial services and healthcare. It has over 120 touch points spread across seven states and 31 cities across India, with exports to international markets as well.
In the next phase of its expansion, SRS plans to launch another ecommerce website, which will include apparel and jewellery. Although SRS has been a very successful group in the traditional offline model and made its first move in towards online retail, what remains to be seen is how it takes the steps forward and if it has got what it takes to challenge the likes of already established Online retail giants-Flipkart and Amazon.
