Six Degreez, which has developed a mobile contacts management platform, has recently won the IDM Jump-start and Mentor (i.JAM) programme award from the Singapore government, that is been administered by its Media Development Author. The award comprises of a grant of around Rs 25 lakh along with institutional support from Singapore’s startup ecosystem.

The firm plans to use the funds to further enhance and sharpen the features of the product.

Six Degreez’ was founded last December by Arun Samudrala and Niranjan Rao, a former investment banker and an alumnus of IIMAhmedabad.

“We believe Six Degreez to be a worthy effort and are happy to make an early contribution to their progress, said, Yong Seong Wei, manager-in-charge at the Singapore government’s Media Development Authority.

The App

Six°, helps the users by updating their friends’ phones whenever a user change own contact details – and vice-versa! “So if your friends use Six°, your phone contacts will stay auto-updated without you needing to do anything!”

So whenever a person using this app, changes his or her phone or the contact number, he will not require to mass email people about the contact being changed.

Other than this, the app also has a DUPE BUSTER feature which helps to manage multiple identical identical copies of the same person in the phone contacts.

Other Features

1. Trust List: One can decide who sees contact profile.

2. Mark as Private: When a user searches for someone whose contact happens to be on your phone, you will be shown as a mutual contact, but the contact details will be hidden. However, you can prevent this by marking some/all of your contacts as private contacts.

3. Blocked List: You can block certain users from viewing your profile/ contact details by using the Blocked List

4. Share/ Unshare your profile: You can choose to go invisible to everyone on Six° by switching off your “Share Profile” switch.

Apart from English, the app is available in 6 languages, including Arabic, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish. Since its launch the app has got 1,000 downloads from over 92 countries, with almost 450,000 contacts being stored.
