Besides US President Donald Trump’s high-profile visit to India, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will also kick off his three-day India tour today (February 24), starting with a meeting with industry leaders in Mumbai.

Nadella’s India visit will be flagged off by engaging with the CEO of Indian companies on the future of technology at Microsoft Future Decoded – Tech Summit in Mumbai. “Nadella will share his vision for the future of technology and how Indian organisations can lead in an era of digital transformation,” the company said.

The event will be addressed by the EVP and president of global sales in the marketing and operations at Microsoft, Jean Philippe Courtois, along with Nadella and several industry stalwarts from India. Besides this, Nadella will also be heading the ‘Microsoft Future Decoded – Tech Summit’ in Bengaluru on February 25.

During his visit, the Hyderabad-born Microsoft CEO is likely to visit New Delhi as well, where Nadella is expected to meet students, developers, and entrepreneurs. The Bengaluru summit will also include fireside chats with Microsoft leaders and other industry stalwarts on the role that technology in shaping the world in the next decade.

As per media reports, Nadella was also looking to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his three-day visit. But the PM’s office did not confirm the meeting, as of  February 13, 2020. The meet seems unlikely as Trump will be arriving in India for his two-day visit as well.

Trump, Nadella India Visits Clash

In his parallel but unconnected tour to India, Trump is likely to meet business leaders on February 25. The list of invitees includes Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, Mahindra Group head Anand Mahindra, Larsen and Toubro chairman A M Naik and Biocon MD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.

As per media reports, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and US-India business bodies have recommended the names of the leaders who should be invited to President Trump’s event. The US Embassy in India had already sent the list of attendees to the White House for approval, but the names haven’t been confirmed publically yet.

The US embassy in India is looking to organise a roundtable meeting of CEOs, which will also include senior bureaucrats from the governments of both countries as well as top executives from US corporations. Besides that, the CCI has been hopeful that Trump’s visit will lead to tangible outcomes in the form of bilateral “mini” trade deal and higher investment commitments from US-based corporations.
