Flipkart founder Sachin Bansal finally broke silence on Net Neutrality, this move comes in just after both Flipkart and Airtel were criticised by the Net Neutrality advocates. Flipkart was criticised for its anti-net neutrality stand after it went for the ‘Airtel Zero’ initiative.

Though Sachin didn’t made any official announcement on the above said partnership, however, he took Twitter as a medium of communication to explain the company’s take on Airtel Zero.

It is to be noted, ever since the news of Flipkart to be a part of this Airtel Zero platform came into light, Flipkart users had started offering 1 star ratings for the etailer app on the Android and iOS platforms.

Bansal made a point that the zero-rated apps will not last long, as they cannot be sustained due to high costs and competition.

Related: Flipkart may end up giving 8.8cr to Airtel every month.

The cost for a large company like Flipkart with large traffic, who signed up early for the Airtel Zero, will be a tiny fraction of that for a startup. This will help them keep out competition from scrappy startups. “Zero” plans will freeze the current market structure in each segment, which is in the interests of the segment leaders whose fear of decline is greater than their aspiration for growth.
