Goa-based Transerve Technologies, a startup that offers geospatial technology-based SaaS solutions has raised $1.6 Mn Series A funding from IL&FS Investment Managers and Omidyar Network.

Transerve was incubated at the Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE)- IIM Ahmedabad. It is supported by the Centre for Incubation & Business Acceleration (CIBA), Goa. The startup focuses on hyperlocal information to improve city operations by modernising the municipal information systems.

Founded in 2009, Transerve targets an improvement in the accuracy of data collection, by using geospatial technology to map the projects and infrastructure. It helps the decision makers to have a better understanding of issue-at-hand. Its SaaS-based survey solutions are aimed at improvising data collection, enhance the speed of the process involved and generate more accurate data.

“More than 200 Mn people in India lack secure property rights, and Transerve’s technology has the potential to play a critical role in solving this issue,” said Shreya Deb, Principal, at Omidyar Network. “Access to property rights often starts with reducing the cost and complexity of maintaining property records. Transerve’s solutions help urban local bodies increase revenue and improve civic service delivery by maintaining an accurate database of properties—ultimately helping more people formalise their property records to secure and exercise their rights to their land and property.”

Transerve’s core technology is enabling municipal revenue administration in multiple cities in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Goa. Its flagship product SmartMu is a cloud-based solution that provides floor-by-floor and building-by-building visualisation and record information. It enables sustainable planning through its flagship integrated hyperlocal platform for smart city management. The use cases also include irrigation, sewage and sanitation systems, water supply, disaster management and urban development.

“At Transerve, we strive for excellence in providing technology solutions to the largely unaddressed segment of urban and local bodies as well as infrastructure consultants.” said Amarsh Chaturvedi, co-founder, Transerve Technologies.

Transerve also provides water supply and sanitation (WATSAN) solutions for World Bank-aided water resource optimisation projects and micro-irrigation planning in Jharkhand. In states like Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa, Transerve’s solutions are used to optimise the available water resources and assets. Other players in this space apart from geospatial technology-based SaaS solutions provider Transerve include Spageo, GeoSpoc, etc.
