Gurugram-based online-to-offline commerce platform DotPe has acquired point-of-sale (PoS) startup Rista in an all-cash deal. The development marks the entry of DotPe into the PoS segment and strengthens its bouquet of offerings to the offline merchants.

Post the acquisition, Rista will continue to work as a standalone business and will be headed by Vasan.

Shailaz Nag, Co-Founder & CEO, DotPe, said: “We have partnered with Rista to offer an all in one solution. The coming together of DotPe and Rista further strengthens our business offerings.”

Founded in 2015 by Srini Vasan, Rista has around 1,500 merchants and offers them billing and inventory management solutions. The top merchants of Rista include names like Nirulas and PVR Cinemas.

Founded by Gyanesh Sharma and Anurag Gupta along with Nag in 2020, DotPe is a commerce and payments platform for offline enterprise businesses.

DotPe has grown into a major player in the restaurant tech ecosystem, with a presence in Impresario restaurants, McDonald’s, Haldiram’s, Starbucks, cafe chains such as Big Chill among other outlets.

In March this year, DotPe raised $27.5 Mn funding from Google through its $10 Bn India Digitisation Fund which was announced by Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai in July last year.

DotPe’s Series A funding round was led by the company’s early backer Prosus-owned payment and fintech business PayU, with participation from Info Edge Ventures, which has doubled its shareholding in the company. In the food & beverage segment it competes with Zomato and Swiggy.

Founded by Shailaz Nag, Anurag Gupta, and Gyanesh Sharma, friends from their days at PayU, the idea behind DotPe is to bring convenience and quick ordering for consumers and enterprise-grade tech through a DIY (do it yourself) platform for merchants.
