When I first got to know about this update, my first reaction was “Are you freaking kidding me?”

In the past eight months we’ve seen the company launch embeddable threads, an Android app, designated power user status, an “online now” feature, a blogging platform, and a rich text editor for mobile, to name a few. (You can read about the last two features here)

But my first reaction of Quora fluttering in their “let’s just add one feature after another” pattern was obviously a kneejerk one! Because if u seriously give it a thought, the company is not throwing in the towel until they don’t get the adequate and apt user feedback. Quora is actually, assessing the market by rolling out new features every month and discovering what connects with the users.

Talking about the new update, the company has announced a new type of content called “Reviews” to allow users to leave structured reviews (with a one star to five star rating), adding structure to the traditional feedback people leave on the Q&A site for products like books, TV shows, cars, or tech hardware .

Quora hopes that the new review system will help users provide with high quality, in-depth analysis shared by people with topic expertise and insights. Reviews will be authentic and unique because readers will know the real identity of the writer and will be able to assess the writer’s expertise. While at present, it is difficult to follow the review like Q&A’s on Quora because of the multi-lingual society we live in. Quora proposes to standardize the format; each one is written in the form of “Review of:.”

As with the new updates, Quora is attempting to highlight the quality and systemized way, the company works for generating its various Q&A pages. It is also a huge SEO play since these pages will likely come up in searches for “X Movie Title Review” or “Y Restaurant Review” or “Z Gadget Review” challenging many review-sites like Yelp or Imdb.
