PM Modi Gives The Helm Of Developing India To Entrepreneurs

Highlighting the Indian government’s faith in innovation and technology, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday (January 6), said that this decade belongs to entrepreneurs of India.

Speaking at a function organised Kirloskar Brothers Limited, Modi said that the spirit to achieve something big, take risks, and innovate in new segments is the identity of every entrepreneur in the country. All Indian entrepreneurs are focussed on developing the country, PM Modi added.

Concerned with the speculations of an economic slowdown in India, PM Modi said that he has faith in Indian companies to improve the current situation. “The entrepreneurs will overcome any challenge”, PM Modi added.

Stressing that entrepreneurs shouldn’t be bothered by negativity, the prime minister said that the government is committed to making policies, which will help the growth of entrepreneurs in the country.

Indian Entrepreneurs Helping India To Grow

While Modi is bullish on entrepreneurs for bringing a decisive change in India’s fortunes in the next decade, a lot of entrepreneurs in the country has helped it to reach new heights.

Bhavish Aggarwal, who is the cofounder of Ola Cabs — a cab aggregating service, was one of the few entrepreneurs who decided to change the way technology was used in the mobility segment.

Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal gave India the power to shop online by launching one of India’s biggest ecommerce platform Flipkart. The duo had founded the company in 2007.

Founded in 2010 by Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Paytm changed the fintech play of India. By bringing the power of money in a mobile device, the company has revolutionised the payments landscape in India.

Deep Kalra, who is the man behind Makemytrip, an online travel aggregator helped India to book their flights, hotels, buses, among others via an online platform. The company was founded by Kalra in 2000.

Cofounder of online payments startup Freecharge, Kunal Shah, was one of the few entrepreneurs who didn’t stop with only one venture. Recently, Shah has also founded an online reward platform called Cred.

In the SaaS domain, one of the entrepreneurs who were able to leave a mark is Girish Mathrubootham. He along with Shan Krishnasamy founded Freshwork, earlier known as Freshdesk, in 2010. Recently, the company was found to be valued at around $3.5 Bn.

Other entrepreneurs who have helped India to boom in the recent past are Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal — cofounders of ecommerce platform Snapdeal, Deepinder Goyal — cofounder of food aggregating startup Zomato, Sriharsha Majety — cofounder of food aggregator Swiggy, Ritesh Agarwal — founder of hotel aggregator Oyo, Byju Raveendran — founder of edtech startup Byju’s.
