Hyderabad Based Experiential Learning & Assessment Startup PlayJect Gets Angel Funding

Hyderabad-based PlayJect, that provides experiential learning for project management education with the help of an innovative game-based platform, has raised funding from Houston-based serial entrepreneur Nickell Reddy, owner of US-based IT consulting firm PrincipleIT.

The amount of funding have been left undisclosed, however, according to the sources close to the development, amount of funding was about $50,000 in the form of equity and resources.

PlayJect is an experiential learning and assessment platform that is uniquely designed to simulate work experiences that are based on real life complex situations. It is designed based on the principles of discovery learning, gamification, experiential learning in a virtual environment. The platform provides various skill enhancing games and simulations designed to provide superior learning capabilities.

PlayJect plans to use the funds to enhance the user experience and sales efforts of the already developed products. Further, it also has plans to open an office in Houston, USA which will accelerate the sales.

The startup was founded in 2013 by Dr. Srinivas Telukunta, a PhD from Cornell University, New York and alumni of the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

“Project management is the most sought-after adult education by enterprises all around the world. Adult education is inherently challenging and the fact that enterprises require large scale learning across several locations in a consistent manner makes it even more difficult. With the help of our platform, we are confident of addressing this challenge to a large extent,” Srinivas said. “A large number of enterprises who participated in the recent PMI National conference have expressed interest in deploying this platform within their enterprises and negotiations are ongoing.”

It currently has a suite of 30 games available in online and offline formats providing various skills enhancing learning. Currently there are two games based on principles of PMBOK 5 and PMI Agile Standards which are offered on-line and the remaining are off-line games. These games allow the players to learn various work skills by actually doing it, collaboratively in a dynamic and emotionally engaging environment.

Nickell Reddy, the Angel Investor said, “For the last 3 months, I have worked and diligently evaluated the team and see great potential for the products they have developed. We will also raise further funds over the next few months to scale up the marketing and sales in addition to hiring more technical talent to increase the strength of the product pipeline.”
