Petpooja Bags INR 137 Cr To Automate Day-To-Day Restaurant Operations

Restaurant point-of-sale (PoS) startup PetPooja has raised INR 137 Cr (about $15.4 Mn) in a round led by VC firm Dharana Capital. 

The funding round, which was a mix of primary and secondary transactions, also saw participation from Helion Ventures cofounder Ashish Gupta, Urban Company cofounders Abhiraj Singh Bhal, Varun Khaitan, and Raghav Chandra; and Urban Company CBO Mukund Kulashekaran. However the startup didn’t give a breakdown of the primary and secondary component.

The startup will deploy the fresh capital to expand its product portfolio, accelerate AI-powered automation, and strengthen customer support operations. 

Founded in 2011 by Parthiv Patel and Apurv Patel, Petpooja offers a cloud-based software platform for the restaurant industry. The SaaS platform offers payroll, order management and invoice automation for its customers.

The startup currently claims to power more than 1 Lakh restaurants across India, the Middle East, the US, and Africa, with operations spanning over 140 cities. It further claims to process 7 Mn orders daily.

The funding comes almost four years after Petpooja raised $4.5 Mn in its Series B round led by Aroa Ventures. The startup also counts B2B ecommerce unicorn Udaan and VC firm GVFL among its investors. 

Many small and medium sized restaurants find it difficult to manage their day-to-day operations such as inventory management, order management and billing lifecycle. Identifying these pain points, Petpooja is eyeing to cash on India’s growing food service market, which is projected to reach a size of $125 Bn by 2029. 

Petpooja competes with the likes of SupplyNote, POSist, among others.
