The reports of people being delivered stuff other than what they ordered on ecommerce websites is not a new phenomenon. It has existed since these platforms have come into existence. Though such instances are more common during the festive seasons and online sales, but reportedly minor goof ups do take place during other times as well.

Another such incident has now come up in Delhi and this time the retailer in question is Snapdeal, and this is not the first time. This time, one of its customer, Gautam Sachdeva, who had planned of gifting phone to his father on the new year’s eve, instead of receiving the phone he ordered for, got a second hand mobile.

Since, Sachdeva had opted for Cash On Delivery for the order, he did not pay the delivery person and this in turn saved him from the trouble of waiting for a refund.

It has not been much time since Pune based Snapdeal customer Darshan Kabra ordered 2 iphones, only to receive wooden boxes in exchange for his hard earned money. Another customer who ordered a Samsung Galaxy Core smartphone from snapdeal received a Vim soap bar in his delivery package.

Although Snapdeal claims all its products to be 100% genuine and verified, but these repeated instance of faulty deliveries point to something else. The main reason for Snapdeal’s  erroneous deliveries is most likely the lack of its own delivery logistics network due to which it has to rely solely on third party logistics.

Looking at these incidences, now it’s high time that Snapdeal should realise that if it needs to stay in the business and compete with the likes of Flipkart, Amazon ( aka giant retailers with delivery system of their own).

Its not just Snapdeal, but similar is the condition with other so-called reputed online retail platforms. Flipkart was also in news for delivering empty boxes thrice to a customer instead of phone he has ordered. Seems, there is something horribly wrong with these ecommerce platforms and the complaints regarding such faulty deliveries on Websites like consumercomplaints.in are evident of the same.

In a hurry to grab a larger market chunk and earn higher revenues, these online platforms are losing out on their accountability and hence, their loyal customers too, besides, with such reports they are also moving away from their potential customers.
