In a bid to take advantage of demand after sales of clothes and accessories on ecommerce portals, the seven year old Bangalore-based online fashion retailer, Myntra is planning to offer its 10 privately owned brands of garments on other ecommerce websites.

Company claims that the in-house brands yield higher operating margins and thus making them more widely available may increase sales and help the company turn profitable.

The person familiar with the matter said, “We are looking at how to sell these brands at other ecommerce sites. It will work just like we sell our goods on Flipkart… like a client… If everything goes as planned, we could see our brands being sold (on other portals) from April.”

According to him, fashion portal is also is considering to set up standalone stores at high-end malls where buyers can try out dresses before shopping for them online.

Gautam Kotamraju, the man credited with developing Myntra’s in-house brands said, “We are also looking at options to open experiential stores for the bigger brands, which helps us bring the brand experience alive.”

Earlier in last year, Myntra was acquired by the country’s largest online retailer, Flipkart for over over $370 Mn. Recently, there were reports that Myntra founder Mukesh Bansal will soon assume a strategic role at Flipkart after back to back promotions. Currently, he leads the fashion and electronics businesses of Flipkart.
