Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Last Mile delivery is always a pain because of lack of services with little to no gain for players operating in this sector. Serving this particular category, TheKarrier has raised $234k from Sol Primero, Outbox Ventures and Nikunj Jain. It is a Bangalore-based startup which provides on demand truck service. The company has access to more than 300 vehicles and has over 25 clients which include the likes of Delhivery and Flipkart.
On the funding Aravind Sanka, co-founder of the company said,” The primary pain point in this segment is getting the right vehicle at the right time, place and price. The technology that has been developed by us acts as a major differentiator to tackle this challenge. Furthermore, we are focused on improving the vehicle utilization and providing exceptional professional services at affordable prices. Sol Primero has an interesting portfolio in the transportation segment and we look forward to working with them and our other investors in order to take theKarrier to the next level.
The said funding will be used to fuel its aggressive expansion plans which includes operating in 5 cities by the end of this year, launching in a new city every month for the rest of this year. Not only this, it also has plans to expand its team of 20 at present by employing people for business development and technology functions.
How It Works?
Booking a mini-truck is simple as it gets, the company provides alternatives to it as well. One can book a mini-truck via its website or can Whatsapp them with the location or the old school way to call them. It has a confirmation time of less than 45 seconds and lead time of less than 45 minutes. It also allows live tracking of the vehicle.
TheKarrier was started in December last year, co-founded by IIT & PESIT graduates Aravind Sanka, Pavan Guntupalli and Rishikesh Ramanath. There are other players in the market namely blowhorn and Trucksuvidha, TruckMandi, trucksfirst, Moovo, ThePorter which have emerged in the past six months in domestic market that’s waiting to be organised.
Company claims to close 1000 orders per month and an expected 70% month on month growth. The last mile delivery segment is estimated to have a market size of $10-12 Bn. The sector is quite fragmented with almost 85% of the market made up of individual truck owners who get the liberty of charging what they want. Having a platform like this, the segment can be organised and at the same time truck owners will be able to reach consumers directly, thus increasing their business.
