Last month we announced the launch of Uber, one of US’s top startups and car rental service, in Bangalore, India.

This week India’s own, venture backed Olacabs has launched “Ola Luxury,” a premium car hire service. The company’s luxury fleet will include Jaguar, Mercedes, Camry and other premium cars.

The startup is charging Rs 20 per kilometers for premium cars, similar to what Uber is charging its customers in Bangalore. Olacabs is one of the many venture backed companies that aggregate cab services in the largely unorganized sector. TaxiForSure, BookMyCab, SharedCab and Zoomcar are some of the companies that operate in the space.

Ola launched the service with a contest at the Bangalore Barcamp giving away 40 free rides and a 1 free luxury ride in a Jaguar.

Olacabs also recentled launched their Android and iPhone Ola apps with bunch of awesome features. Looks like competition in this segment will indeed benefit the consumers a lot.
