on Monday (July 10) announced the full-scale launch of its ‘Prime Plus’ service in Bengaluru.
The Prime Plus service is aimed at addressing the problem of ride cancellations by drivers on the platform. With Prime Plus, Ola offers complete ride assurance, eliminating any cancellations or operational hassles.
Earlier, the Bhavish Aggarwal-led company was conducting a pilot of the Prime Plus service in Bengaluru. Following the launch in Bengaluru, Ola aims to begin the service in several more cities this month.
“The pilot of Prime Plus has been a tremendous success in Bengaluru, significantly improving customer satisfaction with the upgraded level of comfort, reliability, and convenience. We are extremely pleased to announce its full-scale launch in Bengaluru, followed by a gradual expansion to other cities across the country,” a spokesperson of the company said.
Meanwhile, Ola cofounder and CEO Aggarwal took to Twitter to share the news of rollout of the Prime Plus service across Bengaluru.
“Prime+ has been a great pilot in Bengaluru over the past couple of months. Today we’re opening it up for all customers in Bengaluru. Also, through this month launching in more cities!,” he added.
Ola currently offers cab, auto and bike services. Users can book prime sedan, prime SUV, and get car on rent on its app. Earlier this year, Ola also announced its entry into the premium EV category with a fleet of 10,000 cars.
Like many other Indian startups, Ola has also been on a cost-cutting drive amid the ongoing funding winter. In January, it laid off around 200 employees from Ola Cabs, Ola Electric, and Ola Financial Services in a restructuring exercise.
Earlier this year, Vanguard Group, an investor of Ola, slashed the company’s valuation by 35% to $4.8 Bn from $7.4 Bn earlier.
However, the company is also eyeing a public listing of its electric vehicle subsidiary Ola Electric next year.
