Direct-to-home (DTH) company Tata Play has inked a pact with Amazon Prime to enhance offerings for its Tata Play DTH and Tata Play Binge customers. This includes Prime Video’s content, shipping and shopping offerings for the customers.

With this collaboration, Tata Play will offer Prime Lite subscription packages through its DTH as well as Binge packs.

These subscription packages enable access to Prime Video’s content as well as its other shipping benefits like free same-day and next-day delivery on Amazon purchases.

“While on the one hand, Tata Play’s robust content distribution network will help in expanding Amazon Prime’s outreach to newer audience segments, on the other, the addition of Prime Lite Membership with Tata Play will make Binge a more compelling proposition,” said Harit Nagpal, managing director and CEO of Tata Play.

Tata Play Binge is an OTT app from Tata Play which offers content from over 22 OTT apps such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play and many more, as per the company’s website.

Tata Play is now offering Binge subscribers at various price points. At INR 199 per month, users can subscribe to 6 OTT apps from a list of 33 apps, including Prime Video. While at INR 349 per month, users can subscribe to all the 33 apps.

“The collaboration with Tata Play provides its DTH and digital customers seamless access to Prime Video’s full selection of content, as well as Prime Lite benefits like unlimited free shopping & shipping of ‘Same-day/Next-Day’ delivery, Prime exclusive deals and much more,” said Gaurav Gandhi, vice president, APAC and MENA, Prime Video.

The collaboration also offers other Prime Lite benefits like free unlimited same-day delivery across over 1Mn products and next-day delivery across over 4Mn products.

“At Prime Video, our mission is to super-serve our customers with the best of entertainment, and we are constantly looking at ways to strengthen our distribution to ensure wider availability of our much-loved movies and series,” said Gandhi.

Alongside this, there are other offerings like prime early access & exclusive deals and 5% cashback on Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card while shopping on Amazon.

This comes at a time when both companies are expanding their offerings.

For example, in March, Amazon Prime Video unveiled its new content slate for the Indian market, with close to 70 series and movies, most of them to be premiered over the next two years.

Besides, Amazon Prime Video also joined hands with live content, sports statistics and ecommerce marketplace FanCode to offer sports content to its viewers.

Last year, Direct-to-home (DTH) major Tata Play expanded content offerings for its streaming service, Tata Play Binge, by adding Apple TV+ to its platform. This enabled Tata Play Binge access to the original series and films available on Apple TV+, along with an array of 26+ other apps already part of the integrated platform.
