Delhi-based Info Edge (India) Ltd the parent company of online recruitment portal, Naukri.com has onboarded AmbitionBox to integrate with and further develop Naukri for a wholesome user experience.

To this end, “Info Edge has bought the domain name “AmbitionBox.com.” Under the arrangement, the founders of AmbitionBox, Mayur Mundada and Subramanya Jingade, have also joined the InfoEdge team.

Founded in December 2014, Mumbai-based AmbitionBox powers a community of job seekers with information on the company, interview experiences, and workplace reviews. It claims to have helped 1.5 Mn jobseekers.

Commenting on the development Hitesh Oberoi, MD and CEO, Info Edge said, “Ambition Box enriches a job seeker’s journey and helps them make an informed choice.  This ties into our core purpose of connecting jobseekers to jobs and companies which are relevant and the right match for them. Mayur and Subramanya have built a valuable product which will immensely benefit the 50 Mn job seekers on Naukri.”

The move strengthens Info Edge’s service offerings, aiming to make jobsearch a holistic experience for consumers. Users can share their interview advice and company reviews anonymously or otherwise while job seekers benefit from the in-depth content.

Talking about the move Mayur Mundada, founder AmbitionBox, “AmbitionBox wants to assist a job seeker and be there throughout their career journey – by building capabilities within the existing product, as job seekers look to improve their chances of having a successful interview outcome, working at a firm of their choice and then excelling at what they do. We believe Naukri and AmbitionBox have very strong synergies and, hence, it made complete sense for us to join hands.”

Info Edge runs consumer Internet properties such as Naukri, 99acres, Jeevansathi and Shiksha. It has earlier funded startups such as Zomato, Policybazaar, and MyDala.

Since early 2016, Info Edge has been strengthening its existing Internet properties. Earlier in January 2016, the company invested about $1Mn (INR 7.4 Cr.) in Rare Media Company Pvt. Ltd to acquire a 35% stake. The investment was done to boost Info Edge’s real estate business 99acres. In July 2016, HappilyUnmarried, a Delhi-based online gifting website, raised $740K (INR 5 Cr) in an all stock deal from Info Edge. This was followed by a further investment of about $147K (INR 1 Cr) in VCare Technologies, that offers a phone directory app called Diro Labs.
