Movers And Shakers Of The Week [31 October – 5 November]

Paytm, the mobile payment, and commerce platform, has announced the appointment of Deepak Abbot as its Senior Vice President – Growth Marketing. Previously, Deepak was working with Times Internet as the Head of Mobile Growth.

Deepak has over 17 years of work experience in growth hacking, mobile marketing, and data analytics. Prior to Times Internet, he served as the Head of Product Marketing at Paytm. He has also worked as the Chief Product Officer at Reliance Entertainment Digital, General Product Manager at Zapak, UX Consultant at Satyam Computers, and as Product Executive at CyberMedia. Deepak’s re-appointment is another step by Paytm towards achieving the goal of establishing a strong team to manage its exponential growth.

Paytm has been strengthening its product and tech teams by hiring top talent in leadership positions.

Earlier this month, Paytm added K. Guru Gowrappan, Global Managing Director of Alibaba Group as an Additional Director and appointed ex-Google Head of Search Amit Singhal and Goldman Sachs APAC chairman Mark Schwartz to the Board.

Twitter’s India, Southeast Asia MD Parminder Singh Quits

Twitter’s Managing Director for India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East parminder-singhand North Africa (MENA) region Parminder Singh, has stepped down from his post. The announcement came just two days after Twitter Inc.’s India Head Rishi Jaitly resigned.

Singh has previously worked with Google, IBM, and Apple, and had joined Twitter in November 2013.

He will be replaced by Maya Hari, who previously managed Twitter’s ads product strategy and adoption for Asia-Pacific, MENA, and Latin America.

Twitter Inc. reportedly held preliminary talks with several technology firms, including Google Inc. and Salesforce.com Inc. and is expected to receive a formal buyout bid soon.

Pranay Agrawal Joins Fractal Analytics As CEO

India- and US-based data analytics provider Fractal Analytics has announced pranay-agarwalthe appointment of co-founder and chief client officer Pranay Agrawal as its new CEO.

In his new role, he will be responsible for building Fractal’s presence in the US and Europe and developing capabilities to stay ahead of rapidly evolving client needs.

Agrawal replaces co-founder Srikanth Velamakanni, who has been named group CEO and Executive Vice Chairman.

As the company organises itself into four distinct entities, i.e. Fractal Analytics, Customer Genomics, and TrialRun, Cuddle.ai, and Qure.ai, Srikanth will be responsible for all four entities, inorganic growth and the long-term future of the business.

Jabong’s Former Marketing Head Soumajit Bhowmik Joins Capillary Technologies

Bengaluru-based omnichannel engagement and commerce platform solutions soumajit-bhowmikcompany, Capillary Technologies has announced the appointment of Soumajit Bhowmik as the company’s new Director of Ecommerce.

In his new role, Soumajit will assume the responsibility of working towards creating integrated ecommerce solutions for clients ranging from CRM to ecommerce platform to extensive digital marketing with measurable KPIs, to support every stage of the customer lifecycle – acquisition, activation, reactivation, and win back. He will also be driving Capillary’s attempts to move the ecommerce business from a platform play to an ROI play model.

Prior to joining Capillary Technologies, he served as the Head of Marketing at Jabong.com, managing the ecommerce portal’s complete performance marketing suite. During his stint, Jabong became gross profitable in May 2016 and saw massive improvements in performance metrics.

Soumajit is a graduate from IIT Kharagpur and holds a Senior Diploma in Fine Arts. He is an avid speaker and spoke at coveted platforms such as the Oracle CloudWorld Summit this year, and at the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IMAI) meet in Delhi.
