GetMeFood, a Hyderabad based player in the online food ordering has been acquired by Monocept. The company chose not to disclose the figures. Monocept is a creation by ex-Microsoft employees Manav Gaur, Gangadhar Hearlgi and Ravi Chitturi. The founders have expertise in developing large-scale enterprise cloud, mobile and web solutions.

It all started in 2014 when Monocept launched a product called “DinerKonnect”, which is essentially a customer engagement and rewards platform, to help the hospitality industry to acquire and manage customer rewards. The DinerKonect has been a aggressive cloud based player in providing service solution for the local restaurants. The software bridged some major gaps in the hospitality industry and gave a technological edges to restaurant owners and managers thus helping them gain resourceful insights on their customers and their purchasing pattern.

Manav Gaur, CEO of Monocept commented on the occasion “The success of DinerKonnect pushed us to explore new ways to improve our offering and Online Food Ordering seemed like a logical extension to our product. We looked out for local Food ordering websites that we could get associated with and GetMeFood fitted the bill perfectly.

GetMeFood was incepted in 2012 by BITS Pilani alumnus Mithun Kalaga and Aravind Thodupunoori and touts itself as the first Food ordering website in Hyderabad. GetMeFood has been tapping into the hyperlocal delivery market and covers 250 restaurants with the help of 50 delivery boys.

Aravind, CEO of GMF said “This is a very exciting move for us. We have a very strong relationship with our partner restaurants and customers. Our strengths lie in operations, and with this acquisition we’re confident that our technology would become the best in the industry and together we would create a brand which is unbeatable”

GMF will be pegging its expansion plan on both online and dine-in businesses and hopes that its local reach will give it a edge over other players in the market. The highlights of the GMF seems to be the fact that they can deliver the food across the city from your favorite restaurant thus diminishing the distance barrier.

GetMeFood will lock horns with other food delivery services like FoodPanda, TinyOwl and Swiggy. The latter have a good footprint on a pan India basis which obviously also means that they have an increased reach when it comes to customers and restaurants partners alike. GetMeFood has some ambitious plans which includes expanding to other cities and partnering with 1500 restaurants in the next operational phase.
