Exclusive: mPaaS Platform, mFicient Technologies Raises Angel Funding

Delhi-based mFicient Technologies, a cloud based enterprise mobility Platform-as-a-Service (mPaaS), has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in angel round. The round saw participation of Delhivery founders and other Delhi and Mumbai-based angel investors.

The secured funds will be used to build and develop sales team and further expand into the domestic market.

The company caters to the the mobility needs of Indian enterprises. Through its PaaS products, the startup helps enterprises build their own internal mobile applications across multiple OS within hours, by eliminating the cumbersome process of writing codes.

According to Gyan Tiwari, co-founder of mFicient Technologies, 70% of India’s workforce owns a smartphone device, which makes it a lucrative market for mFicient technologies to operate in. He further added, globally the enterprise mobility market is poised at $140 Bn; whereas for India, it is around $20 Bn.

mFicient was founded in 2013 by NITK Surathkal alumni, Gyan and Santanu Biswas. Prior to this, Gyan has worked with Capillary Technologies, looking after its sales, while Santanu has worked for companies such as Siemens, Schneider Electric and Tata Motors.

The startup has a full stack of products like mobile backend as a service, a rapid app development platform, secured container app, integrated mobility management, a push notification system and a P2P messenger. With its range of products, mFicient wants to help enterprises cut down costs, improve productivity and offer a more flexible manner of communication to the employees, via their mobile phones.

“As a CTO, I believe adoption of enterprise mobility is going to be critical for enterprises to cut down costs, improve productivity and increase employee satisfaction. Increasing smartphone penetration makes it even more important for enterprises to think of streamlining business processes from the mobile side of it to have an edge,” said Kapil Bharti, co-founder & CTO of Delhivery and one of mFicient’s investors.

“mFicient has done a great job with their mobility platform, which takes care of all aspects of enterprise mobility needs and allow them to go live within hours and across multiple platforms. Its rapid mobile app development tool and the ability to integrate with any kind of backend systems gives it a significant differentiation from the rest of the solutions available in the market,” he added.

mFicient’s client base includes Axis Bank, Hindalco and Delhivery.
