DLabs at the Indian School of Business (ISB) and DS Ventures in association with the Consulate of India at New York has announced the India Demo Day (IDD) to showcase the entrepreneurial talent in New York City.
India Demo Day (IDD) is designed as a platform for Indian startups to demonstrate disruptive ideas and garner investors’ interest overseas. The event which is to be held on June 5, 2015 at New York City will showcase the talent and potential of Indian startups from healthcare, education, big data and the IoT domains of industry.
Here is the list of 9 startups selected by India Demo day across the country for this event.

The Indian Consulate at New York, who is hosting the event for India Demo Day, will see these startups make a 10 minute pitch to venture capitalists, industry leaders, and angel investors in the city. The event will be inaugurated by Arun Kumar Singh, India’s ambassador to the United States.
Shwetank Verma, Founder of DS Ventures, who is a serial entrepreneur and a former private equity professional said, “India Demo Day is an attempt to solve two pain points felt by every entrepreneur – capital and growth. The platform is sure to give access to a set of investors which otherwise would not have been possible.”
Shwetank along with Dheeraj Batra, CEO of DLabs at ISB and other partners, developed the India Demo Day concept to bridge the gap in startup landscape in India. Moving further, India Demo Day is planned to conduct series of events showcasing more than 100 ventures over a period of one year.
Overall this is a good attempt to provide startups with international exposure, though as the trip is not sponsored by the organisers, thus this might cost a lot to the startups. However, few startups have managed to get organisations to sponsor their trip, but they have to make their own accommodation arrangements.
