As a result of the various initiatives taken up by the government, under the purview Startup India campaign, India’s Global Innovation Index ranking too took a leap from 81 in 2015 to 66 in 2016.
Earlier this year in January, at the one-year completion of Startup India’s anniversary, the government continued its commitment to helping startup entrepreneurs by launching an educational initiative – the Learning & Development Module.

The L&D module allows entrepreneurs to take up education in a more accessible and hassle-free way. It aims to encourage entrepreneurs to ask pertinent questions related to their startup queries.
Launched in association with UpGrad and developed by InvestIndia, the L&D module is a collaborative initiative by the DIPP. It is an interactive online learning and development module to educate startups and aspiring entrepreneurs, through various stages of their entrepreneurial journey.
A Must-Do For Early-Stage Entrepreneur
The L&D Module is a four-week, free of cost, online learning programme for early-stage entrepreneurs. It has six modules on idea identification, legal, finance, and fundraising.
It is a part of the Startup India Hub. The objective of the programme is to make entrepreneurs aware of the key concepts and the steps of setting up and running a successful venture.
The participants get a chance to learn from the real-life successes and failures of top entrepreneurs like Deep Kalra (CEO, MakeMyTrip), Kunal Bahl (CEO, Snapdeal), and Bhavish Aggarwal (co-founder Olacabs). They also get a deep procedural insight into writing a business plan. At the completion of the course, the participants also get an official Startup India, Invest India and UpGrad certificate.
They are also provided with a networking opportunity by interacting with other entrepreneurs at the discussion forum.
The faculty at the L&D Module include industry experts from Matrix Partners India, Accel Partners, Unilazer Ventures etc.
The platform aims to educate entrepreneurs and startups about the nuances of government policies and initiatives in startups. As per recently available data, till February 19, 2017, the platform has received 31,000 users within a month of launching the programme. And, over 800 entrepreneurs have already reportedly completed the module.
