B2B on-demand manufacturing platform Karkhana.io has secured $6.3 Mn (around INR 52.3 Cr) as a part of its Series A funding round co-led by Arkam Ventures and Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital.
Existing investor Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India also participated in the round.
The startup plans to use the fresh capital to fuel expansion of its supplier base, build a robust electronics supply chain, and drive scaling efforts in the US and Europe.
Sonam Motwani, founder and chief executive at Karkhana.io, said, “This funding extends beyond growing our platform; it’s a dedication to fortifying India’s MSME ecosystem. We want to create a significant impact in sectors with expansive growth potential, addressing surging demand and propelling Karkhana.io to redefine the landscape of the Indian manufacturing industry.”
Founded in 2018 by Motwani and Karthik MC, the startup offers customised manufacturing solutions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across product industries including EVs, medical equipment, consumer electronics and aerospace.
Its manufacturing solutions are designed to support manufacturing from small batch to mass production. The platform currently has a supplier network of more than 400 MSMEs, enabling 90+ OEMs for their contract manufacturing requirements.
The startup also has a digital platform that streamlines the sourcing process, providing a single dashboard for companies to access a network of vetted suppliers, regardless of their scale, and overcome manufacturing inefficiencies.
In 2021, Karkhana.io secured its pre-Series A funding worth $1.2 Mn from Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India. Back then it said that it would use this funding to fuel further growth and establish its technology platform to meet the growing demand for custom manufacturing.
Several other startups in the space are also gaining traction from investors.
For instance, last year, Aequs, a precision manufacturing platform in aerospace and several other verticals, secured $54 Mn funding to launch a new advanced technology product (ATP) vertical to manufacture high-precision components for multiple global consumer electronics companies.
