India’s famous  local search service JustDial has made a soft entry into the ecommerce space through tie-ups with restaurants, grocers, pharmacies and electronic stores for home delivery. The company had revealed  its plans to enter this space last year.

JustDial has started with Andheri in Mumbai and is slowly expanding to other areas of the city. So far, the service is available through the website. The services will later be made available through an app. They have introduced distinct delivery structures for all three categories. In the restaurant space, the company plans to deliver within half an hour of the order being placed. For grocery and medicines, it aims delivery in an hour. In case of electronics, if the order is placed before 2 pm, it will ensure delivery in 7-8 hours, else in the next 24 hours.

JustDial is  India’s local search service, founded by V.S.S. Mani in 1996.This Mumbai-based firm   bridges the gap between users and businesses by helping users, finding relevant providers of products and services quickly, while helping businesses listed in Justdial’s database to market their offerings.Justdial’s search service is available to users across multiple platforms, such as internet, over telephone (voice) and text (SMS).The company caters to over 57 Mn unique users spread across 240 cities in India.

Home delivery services are expected to be officially launched by Amitabh Bachchan, company’s current brand ambassador. JustDial received  $67Mn in two rounds of funding by SAIF Partners, Sequoia Capital, Tiger Global, EGCS and SAP Venture. In the third quarter of FY15, Just Dial’s revenue stood at $24.3Mn
