IT Ministry Lists Five Indian Startups Making Work From Home Safer

The National Centre of Excellence for Cybersecurity Technology Development and Entrepreneurship, a joint initiative between the IT ministry and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), has announced a list of Indian startups that are providing security solutions to make work from home safer.

It has highlighted that work from home has become the new normal for many professionals and companies, but with remote working come challenges such as data security, usage of VPNs, network security and more, which hampers productivity and business operations.

The list includes Indian security product companies working with entrepreneurs and businesses to efficiently enable work-from-home without compromising on data security.

Block Armour

Founded: 2017
Founders: Abhijit Dhongade, Floyd D’Costa, Narayan Neelakantan

Block Armour is an identity management solution that leverages blockchain for digital ID and zero-trust architecture. The company’s offering ‘Secure Shield’ is a remote desktop software for corporates from authenticated and authorised users and computers. It also relies on the remote desktop policy to prevent any data leakages.

The company is offering its InstaSafe Secure Access, which is a cloud-based security-as-a-service (SaaS) solution to protect mobile and remote workers, enabling them to securely access enterprise apps, email and web on any network. It protects users against credential theft, server exploitation. The software is based on the principle of software-defined perimeters (SOP) also known as Block Cloud.

Data Resolve

Data Resolve is a cybersecurity company that unifies user behaviour analytics and mobile workforce management solutions. The company has two cybersecurity products inDefend and MobSec. inDefend is an encrypted insider threat management system that analyses user behaviour to monitor activities and communication habits. It also gives incident alerts for any data exfiltration activity. MobSec relies on cyber intelligence to analyse the information flowing within and outside the company. It offers mobile device management and mobile application management features as well.

The cybersecurity and entrepreneurship department’s report comes after the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) warned that to allow employees to work from home, several organisations have relaxed geofencing restrictions and security protocols. This relaxation can make networks vulnerable to cyberattacks, especially from neighbouring countries.
