IRCTC, India’s largest e-ticketing website, has finally introduced COD option for travellers when they buy tickets from its platform. IRCTC has partnered with Gurgaon-based Anduril Technologies which owns and operate Bookmytrain.com to offer COD services to the company.
This new service is targeted towards the people who do not have a credit card, debit card or internet banking facility to pay for railway e-tickets i.e. especially the rural populace.
The services have been launched a pilot basis and will be available in about 200 cities initially. Travelers can book a ticket five days before the date of journey. As per the website, the booked tickets would be delivered two days prior to the journey date.

The delivery charges will be similar to IRCTC I-tickets i.e. INR 40 for each sleeper class ticket and INR 60 for AC
According to an IRCTC official, this move is an attempt to move people away from the ticket counters and decongest booking windows.
This new service will not only a big time savior for IRCTC from the payment chaos but also will help in increasing the number of tickets booked online.
