Online furniture marketplace Pepperfry has acquihired interior designing startup Brandmakerr for an undisclosed amount.
As part of the deal, Brandmakerr’s founder Rahul Kapuria has been appointed as the vice president of Pepperfry. Kapuria will be joining Pepperfry’s Mumbai office and driving commercial interior designing, civil and interior, and turnkey solutions in the startup.
With this acquisition, Pepperfry will carry out commercial interior designing projects for retail, banking and HORECA sectors. Besides, Brandmakerr’s projects are now transferred to Pepperfry and will be led by the online furniture marketplace.
Under the newly acquired business, Pepperfry aims to associate with large players in the retail, F&B, airports and banking sector.
“Over the years, Brandmakerr has built a strong customer base in the design, build and fit-out space for retail and F&B Sector. This partnership with Brandmakerr opens a new area of business for Pepperfry. I am excited to work closely with Rahul to scale this business by building in-house capabilities and executing commercial projects,” said Ashish Shah, cofounder and CPO of Pepperfry.
Founded in 2014 by Kapuria, Brandmakerr is a commercial interior solutions startup. It primarily takes up commercial projects in the retail and F&B sectors. It currently has a presence in 21 cities of India. It counts Amazon, Hamleys, TATA Starbucks, Dominos, KFC, Pizza Hut, Max, Raymonds and Shopperstop as its clients.

Brandmakerr’s founder holds over 25 years of diverse experience; as Kapuria had led senior-level positions in several companies including Blowplast, Voltas, Modi Xerox, Magnasound, and Hinduja.
Meanwhile, Pepperfry is an online furniture platform that was set up in 2012 by Ambareesh Murty and Ashish Shah. Besides operating the online platform, the startup has forayed into the offline retail market and established brick-and-mortar stores under the franchise model.
In July, Pepperfry was reported to be rejigging its business structure ahead of its $300 Bn IPO debut. Besides, the two founders–Ambareesh Murty and Ashish Shah also redomiciled Pepperfry from Cayman Islands to Mumbai.
In May, the online furniture marketplace converted itself into a public company, which is a crucial step for companies planning to list on Indian bourses.
