A grassroots movement designed to foster innovation in the Indian hardware entrepreneurial sector, Innofest aims to bring together creative minds of innovators and entrepreneurs to interact with industry stalwarts in a series of events designed to boost entrepreneurship and development.

The event is being organised by iSPIRT (the Indian Software Product Industry Roundtable) –  with an aim to help innovators convert their concepts into scalable, sustainable enterprises.

In what can be said as a break from the traditional event format, Innofest will be organised as a ‘festival for innovation.’ It plans to offer a day-long experience of interaction with and within India’s innovators, entrepreneurial thinkers, political leaders, youngsters creating new things, and potential patrons interested in backing challenging ventures.

The day-long event will play host to influential and renowned keynote speakers like Sharad Sharma, Vishwanathan Sahasranamam, Manish Singhal, Avinash Kaushik, Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, Apoorva Agarwal, and Harsha Angeri, among others.

According to Prathibha Sastry, Fellow at iSPIRT, “Innofest is going to be for three sets of people. For the people who want to build a prototype, for the people who have built one and looking at patenting, and someone who wants to scale the products that they have built.”

Apart from providing the much sought after networking platform to innovators and entrepreneurs, Innofest seeks to debunk the general global belief that India cannot innovate. It then further aims to help create a more enabling and encouraging environment for innovators to take their ideas to commercial success or social good.

The event promises hands-on sessions with facilitators, and aims to provide participants with an interactive opportunity to build, create, connect, improvise, and explore. This session is specifically curated for educational purposes and will showcase products, projects, startups and innovation in the maker’s world.

Spanned across a day, sessions would cover topics like STEM learning, Smart electric mobility solutions, funding resources, open source hardware manufacturing, and design manufacturing among others.

In addition to innumerable learning and growth opportunities, Innofest will also provide entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their products and technology. The 2016 Innofest aims to feature startups showcasing their products or services to the attendees.

The event is being supported and endorsed by veteran industry leaders like Shri Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog; Shri Nandan Nilekani, former CEO, Infosys & former Chairman, UIDAI; Smt Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, MD, Biocon; and Shri T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Board, Manipal Global Education.

The event will offer an excellent platform for young and emerging startups to expand the reach of their products or services to a variety of audiences including investors, buyers, prospective hires and significant media coverage.

It will be a celebration in taking the first small steps in creating a new identity for the nation – one that is based on innovation, creation, and entrepreneurship.

The event will be held at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru, on December 8, 2016.
