US-based ride-hailing company inDrive has named Pratip Mazumder as the country manager for India.
In his new role, Mazumder will be responsible for looking after all business verticals and overseeing local government and public relations, partnerships and inVision initiatives.
Mazumder has over ten years of experience in leadership roles across the internet and consumer tech industry. Thus, inDrive has roped in to lead the overall business in India, while ensuring ongoing improvements in safety for riders and drivers across the country, the company said in a statement.
According to inDrive, he has also launched multiple product lines and segments in numerous markets. “Mazumder will help strengthen our product and business offerings, ensuring they’re finely tuned to meet the needs of people in India,” the statement read.
Prior to this, he served several companies namely Swiggy, Uber and Practo. At Swiggy he served as General Manager – Strategic Partnerships, India. He also worked with Aegon where he headed business development and partnerships.
inDrive’s president Mark Loughran said, “Pratip’s profound market insights and ability to seamlessly connect our central and regional teams are invaluable. His leadership will be instrumental in cultivating our organisational culture and aligning our local operations with our global standards. Pratip’s role is critical to driving our continued growth and success across India.”
The company said that the development comes at a time when inDriver has embarked on an accelerated growth in the Indian market. For the company, India is one of the four countries that has an assigned country head.
This new role will help inDrive strengthen collaborations with key stakeholders and set an ambitious growth strategy to further develop its India portfolio and strengthen regional partnerships to accelerate its growth in India.
inDrive claims to be operational in 749 cities across 46 countries, and aims to achieve 1 Bn user base by 2030.
The company seems to be eyeing India as one of the key markets for expansion. Last year, it launched freight services in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Lucknow. Under this, it would offer same-day and on-demand transport service to small businesses to find delivery options for any 20-plus kg freight. Users can find a large and diverse fleet of vehicles such as three-wheelers, pick-up and mid-sized trucks for small and medium shipments.
