With Zomato, Swiggy, Grofers, Amazon, Dunzon and many more, doorstep delivery has possibly entered all forms of retail. To keep up with the trend, Indian Oil Corporation has now partnered with Delhi-based Pepfuels and Pune-based Repos Energy to enable doorstep delivery of fuel like Diesel through mobile dispensers.

The customers can place an order using mobile apps and websites of each of the companies. Pepfuels would be handling diesel delivery for the Delhi NCR region, whereas Repos energy has taken up the responsibility to serve Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Varanasi and Raigarh.

The two companies will deliver the diesel within the same day of placing the order. The customer would have to pay a delivery charge. Repos will be relying on a fuel delivery vehicle fitted with a mobile dispenser and a 6,000-litre fuel tank to do the rest of the job.

Pepfuel, on the other hand, “holds the patent for IoT-enabled fuel dispenser that is considered as the next most significant revolution in the segment. The dispensing unit is controlled by the cloud-based platform, which eliminates the risk of wastage and other concerns,” Pepfuels founder Tikendra Yadav said.

After a customer places an order through the mobile app, the fuel will be delivered to concerned Indian oil deal with the customer details — name, mobile number, quantity, address and time of delivery. The fuel delivery facilitators — Pepfuel or Repos — would pick up the order and deliver it to the customers.

Pepfuel was incorporated on January 19, 2017 by Tikendra Yadav. The company covers different industrial sectors like housing society, manufacturing industries, hotels, corporate offices, colleges, hospitals and more. Currently, the company is operational from 8 AM to 8 PM, but it plans to go 24×7 soon.

Repos Energy was founded in 2017 by Chetan Walunj and Aditi Bhosale Walunj. The company caters to hotels like Taj, West In Hotel and Resorts, JW Marriot and Radisson; music festival Sunburn, and cricket league IPL, among many others.

This tie-up comes at a time when the sharp economic slowdown of India has affected the demand for diesel as well. In September 2019, Indian diesel consumption was at 5.8 Mn tons. Compared to 7.8 Mn ton in May this year. Looking at this, the Indian oil had to shut units in at least two refineries in September 2019. Despite that, Diesel is still an important fuel especially in the industries and the demand is said to grow back up.
