Kolkata-headquartered bootstrapped data visualisation platform FusionCharts, which provides JavaScript charting tools and components, has been acquired by US-based business software firm Idera Inc. The amount of the deal has not yet been disclosed.

As a part of the deal, FusionCharts will now be a part of Idera Inc’s developer tools business unit, which already includes software productivity brands like Embarcadero, Lansa, Sencha, Whole Tomato and Froala.

Kegan Blumenthal, Idera’s general manager of FusionCharts, Sencha and Froala, believes that JavaScript charting will expand the reach of Idera’s current developer tools’ business unit and further solidify the company’s position as a go-t0-source for “mission-critical JavaScript components.”

“Data visualization plays a critical role in today’s software products. FusionCharts helps developers convert data into engaging visualizations with minimal effort and learning required,” Blumenthal added.

Founded in 2002 by Pallav Nadhani, FusionCharts is a data visualisation library that helps web and mobile developers generate charts, gauges and maps used to power the dashboards. FusionCharts’ platform has been used by more than 800K developers across a client base of 28K companies, which include Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, Intel, Caterpillar, Walmart, Vanguard, and many others.

FusionCharts has been downloaded more than 1.4 Mn times and its products include FusionCharts Suite XT, FusionTime, and FusionExport charting libraries, which offer more than 100 interactive charts and 2K data-driven maps. Besides this, its products also offer extensive documentation, consistent APO and cross-browser support to make data visualisation easy for any project. The company has been bootstrapped so far.

“Idera has built a best-in-class developer tools portfolio, and we are excited to leverage that momentum to expand and scale our offerings for the JavaScript community,” FusionCharts’ Nadhani said.

Back in 2018, Idera acquired Bengaluru-headquartered database management startup Webyog in an all-cash deal. The company was founded in 2006 by Rohit Nadhani, who happens to be Pallav Nadhani’s cousin. Coincidentally, Webyog had also remained bootstrapped since launch, just like FusionCharts. Idera intended to leverage Webyog’s tools to expand and boost its product portfolio to include solutions that support open source databases like MySQL.
