With just a few days left for StartupDash’s first event to kickstart in Delhi, we have received an overwhelming response from the startup community – not only in Delhi but in the other 2 cities, Pune and Bangalore, as well! The best part is we haven’t spent a penny on marketing, yet we have been receiving extremely high-quality applications and we are nearly sold out in all 3 cities.
To jog up your memory, we announced StartupDash last month, an event designed on the lean startup principle for MVP stage startups. The event will act as a launchpad for 15 startups in each city. Startups will present their idea in front of a curated audience of 50+ individuals and industry veterans, who will provide them with live feedback and help them iterate and validate their idea.

While we built Bluegape.com, most of the startup events were focused for aspiring entrepreneurs but they were focused to motivate people to kickstart. StartupDash is the first in it’s kind of event focused for young companies to address the problems that they face in initial year of operations.

There are a number of challenges such as team building, managing cash flows, etc. which a startup goes through. For a startup each day is important and you can’t afford to ignore that. One has to be a leader and has to work harder than anyone else. Platform like StartupDash will help startups to meet people who have faced the same problems as you are facing now; it thus becomes important for startups in initial stages to be part of such an event which addresses these building up challenges.

I think StartupDash is an incredible initiative by the Inc42 team. Entrepreneurship, while an exciting journey, can also be a lonely one where many around you may not understand the challenges and pressures. Such events that bring like-minded people together are great in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit at all stages. Furthermore, by bringing mentors/investors on the same stage, it also helps ideas at the MVP stage validate and perhaps refine their business models.

Ten years back, we did not have an eco system of helping each other as startups. So many people were scared to jump because they did not have enough role models and even if they had those role models were extremely inaccessible. What startup events have done is that they have solved these problems. You can hear from real people and get inspired and also learn from their success and failure stories. Traditionally we have been a risk averse society and such events have also helped in breaking that mind set.
StartupDash is a platform to hear from real people, get inspired and learn.
Initiatives like StartupDash make a huge difference for several reasons. But the one close to my heart – it got me started! A little known fact about PriceBaba is the initial inspiration to make it happen came from a weekend long startup event. If I hadn’t participated at Startup Weekends, I wouldn’t have been running PriceBaba today. Given the structure StartupDash has, I am sure many budding entrepreneurs will benefit from it in years to come.
