The SoI issued another notice to Google in connection with game ‘MA 2 - President Simulator’, which also incorrectly depicted Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh

The Indian government has reportedly sent notice to Google over incorrect depiction of India’s map on some of the apps hosted on Google Play.

The Survey of India (SoI), acting on information received from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), issued a notice to Google for incorrect depiction of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh by the app ‘World Map Quiz’, developed by Qbis Studio, MoneyControl reported.

The app is available on Google Play and has seen over 5 Mn downloads so far.

Qbis Studio told the publication that it made corrections to the map after receiving the notice and released a new version of the app last month.

Meanwhile, the SoI also issued another notice to Google in connection with game ‘MA 2 – President Simulator’, which also incorrectly depicted Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the report said.

The game, developed by Oxiwyle, has over 1 Mn downloads on Google Play.

This is not the first time when the government has cracked down on apps and platforms for incorrectly depicting the map of India. In 2021, Twitter was caught in a similar situation. An FIR was registered against the platform’s officials, including then India MD Manish Maheshwari, for showing Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as a separate country.

Earlier also, Twitter and Xiaomi were in the eye of the storm for incorrect depiction of the Indian map.
