Big tech major Google will launch its AI-powered content creation tool for merchants, Product Studio, in India in the next few weeks.
“Product Studio will also give you the ability to generate videos from just one photo… Product Studio is now available in Australia, Canada, U.K. and U.S. in Merchant Center Next and the Google and YouTube app on Shopify and coming to India and Japan in the next few weeks,” said vice-president of merchant shopping at Google, Matt Madrigal, in a blog post.
The company made the announcement at its flagship Google Marketing Live event on Wednesday (May 22). The tech major also unveiled a host of new functionalities to the content creation tool.
Launched last year, Product Studio allows merchants to generate images by just inputting text prompts. The latest new features announced on May 22 will now enable users to generate videos (short videos or GIFs) from just one image.
“New Product Studio features continue to put the power of Google AI in the hands of merchants… Just upload an image that represents your aesthetic, add a prompt describing the scene and within moments Product Studio will generate campaign-ready content,” explained Madrigal in his post.
Product Studio was launched in the US last year and has since expanded to users in Australia, Canada and the UK.
With this, the tech major is looking to woo merchants and diversify its product offerings for small businesses. In turn, the data from these merchants will help it polish its AI models as more users queries return a bigger bank of responses.
This comes at a time when Google has rapidly ramped up its presence with a slew of offerings for its users in India, its largest market globally by user count. Apart from the $10 Bn Google for India Digitisation Fund announced in 2022, the tech major has also rapidly scaled up its product portfolio.
Earlier this month, it launched the Google Wallet app for Android users in India in partnership with multiple ecommerce platforms and ticketing partners. It has also aggressively rolled out its AI offerings for users in India be it Gemini or AI-enabled search.
In March, the Alphabet-owned company also announced a slew of new initiatives including helping voters navigate AI-generated content, safeguarding its platforms from abuse and preventing misuse of false information.
