India born Sundar Pichai, the current CEO of global conglomerate Google has reportedly received $200 Mn compensation last year. This includes a monthly salary of around $650K and a stock award of $198.7 Mn.

In 2015, the final compensation was $100.5 Mn, just half of what he received now. However, the media expected this number to double up in 2016.

In August 2015, Pichai was promoted to the position of CEO, replacing co-founder Larry Page. The restructuring came as Page shifted focus to parent entity, Alphabet.

Pichai’s extensive contribution to all of Google’s major products including Search engine, Android, Google Chrome, and maps led to his swift rise in the company.

He joined Google in 2004 and has been the man behind many inspirational products – including Google Chrome and the Chrome OS. Lately, he has also been responsible for overseeing the development of different Google apps and also integration of these apps. He was appointed as Product Chief by then-CEO Larry Page on October 2014.

According to his current salary, Sundar Pichai is the highest paid Indian executive in the world. In 2016, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella received an $18 Mn paycheck, while PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi received a total of $26.4 Mn.

In stark contrast, Google co-founders Page and Sergey Brin have paid themselves a salary of $1 only. Pichai’s annual remuneration indicates the high value and expectation that Google places on Pichai’s contribution.
