SUMMARY

The accelerator programme will begin from March 2019

Google to hold follow up session in April and May

The programme was launched on July in India

Global search company Google is inviting startups across machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors to apply for the second batch of its Launchpad Accelerator India programme.

The programme which was launched in July, is set to begin its second class from March 2019. According to Google, the list of selected startups will be announced in February next year.

During this, the selected startups will undergo an intensive in-person mentorship boot camp in Bengaluru for three months. Additionally, there will also be follow up session during April and May to help address some of the specific challenges that the startups have been facing.

Under this accelerator programme, 10 startups will receive mentorship and support from the best of Google in AI and/or ML, cloud computing, UX, Android, Web, Product strategy and marketing. Startups will also receive Google Cloud Credits from $20K (INR 14.02 Lakh) – going up to $100K (INR 70.13 Lakh) each.

The Google Launchpad Accelerator programme follows the search giant’s Solve For India roadshow last year.

“The first batch of Launchpad Accelerator India, saw more experienced founders hailing from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, leveraging AI /ML to solve for India’s real problems. We are excited about the role these new age startups can play in creating AI based innovative solutions across agri-tech, language, healthcare, transportation and more,” said Paul Ravindranath, product manager, Launchpad Accelerator India.

Indian technology startups that have raised at least seed funding are eligible to apply for the programme. The startups can apply at the official programme website till January end next year.

The first class which was held in September this year saw participation from some of the popular technology startups such as CareNx Innovations, Vassar Labs, Wysa, Multibhashi, Genrobotics, OliveWear, Signzy, SlangLabs, ten3T Healthcare and Uncanny Vision.

The development comes in right after Google announced the selection of 10 Indian media companies for funding under its Google News Initiative.
