We bring to you the latest edition of movers and shakers of the week in the Indian startup ecosystem.
This week, media reports speculated that Walmart India is looking to elevate Sameer Aggarwal as head of its operations in the country. Aggarwal will replace Krish Iyer who is Walmart’s India from the last six years.
With this, Aggarwal will get his third promotion in the span of two years. He was appointed in April 2018 as chief strategy and administrative officer at Walmart India. Prior to Walmart India, he was working with Yum! Brands in Thailand and UK retailer Sainsbury’s in London.
As of now, Iyer is the president and CEO of Walmart India. However, after the reshuffling, he is expected to move to an advisory position in Walmart.
US-based Walmart is a multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores.

Freshworks Appoints Prakash Ramamurthy
SaaS major Freshworks has appointed Prakash Ramamurthy as the chief product officer of the company. At his new role, Ramamurthy is responsible for Freshworks’ overall product vision and strategy, development and GTM efforts. He reports to Freshworks founder and CEO Girish Mathrubootham.
Before Oracle, he served as chief product and technology officer at LifeLock and helped the company through a successful IPO in 2012. He also serves as an operating partner at Trinity Ventures and is a board member at Kite.com.
Freshworks provides SaaS products to enterprises globally. The company was founded in 2010 by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy as Freshdesk, which offered helpdesk software for customer support. The company rebranded itself to Freshworks in June 2017.
Moglix Appoints Vivek Kashyap
B2B industrial goods marketplace Moglix has appointed Vivek Kashyap as vice president of business development and supply partnerships. As a member of the management team, Kashyap will be responsible for strengthening the functions of sales, strategic partnerships, and supplier collaborations for Moglix.
Kashyap brings over 24 years of experience and expertise in driving institutional sales and building OEM supplier networks for collaborative technical selling. He is an engineering graduate from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and also holds an MBA degree from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. Prior to this, he was working with Timken India Limited.
Moglix procures and supplies safety tools, hardware, office supplies and more to the industries. It is an ecommerce marketplace for different kinds of industrial tools such as power tools, hand tools, adhesives, safety and security and electricals.
Lucideus Appoints John N Stewart
Cybersecurity startup Lucideus has appointed John N Stewart to its board of directors. Stewart carries with him nearly three decades of experience in the cybersecurity industry.
Stewart was working with Cisco as the senior vice president of chief security and trust officer at Cisco for over 17 years. Stewart has led multiple cybersecurity projects from IT design for elementary schools to national security programs.
Lucideus builds information security platforms and services and offers them to companies to secure and real-time monitor cyber threats.
Kate Richdale Joins Avendus Capital
Avendus Capital has appointed Kate Richdale as a non-executive director on the board of directors. Based in Hong Kong, Richdale serves as the partner and the head of strategy and business development for KKR Asia Pacific.
She works with KKR’s Asian investing businesses to assist in advancing the deal origination pipeline and developing strategic client relationships across the region. She has spent over 25 years in investment banking.
Avendus Capital is an investment banking firm that offers financial and strategic advisory services. The firm offers mergers and acquisition, due diligence, private placement, restructuring, recapitalization, turnaround, and valuation advisory services.
Icertis Appoints Pranali Save
Enterprise tech provider Icertis has appointed Pranali Save as chief human resources officer to lead the growth of the diverse and global team of the company. With over 1,000 employees based in 17 countries, Save will drive the implementation of innovative global strategies to accelerate the hiring of top talent and institute employee development programmes.
Save joins Icertis from software company Tieto where she served as the HR head for India and global HR partner for the Tieto Centres of Excellence (CoE) across five European countries. Prior to Tieto, she held senior HR positions in the US, Europe, and India.
Founded in 2009 by Monish Darda and Samir, the Bellevue-headquartered cloud enterprise software startup Icertis is a provider of enterprise contract management in the cloud.
