Theater, a women's fashion startup founded in 2021, has secured $1.5 Mn in Pre-Series A funding led by Prath Ventures.
The funds will be used to expand into quick commerce, increase offline presence, and improve design and production processes.
The investment highlights growing investor interest in India's women's fashion market, particularly in shoes and perfumes segments.

Fashion startup Theater has raised $1.5 Mn (INR 12.45 Cr) in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Prath Ventures, along with participation from a host of undisclosed existing angel investors.
With this fresh capital, the company plans to strengthen its footprint in India’s fashion market, focused on women’s footwear, stockings, perfumes and bags.
Founded in 2021 by Sarthak Aggarwal, Vikram Jain, Karan Jain, and Shruti Aggarwal, Theater offers women’s footwear, stockings, perfumes and bags.
“We are committed to crafting fashion and lifestyle products that are not only exquisitely made but also timeless in design. This funding empowers us to drive growth through new channels like quick commerce, expand our offline presence, and accelerate our design iteration and production processes,” said the startup’s cofounder and CEO Sarthak Aggarwal.
“Theater is disrupting the Women lifestyle space with strong design aesthetics and impeccable product quality. Indian consumption story is at its inflection point and we believe there is a whitespace in categories such as women’s shoes and perfumes,” said Piyush Goenka, managing partner at Prath Ventures.
Founded in 2022 by Piyush Goenka and Harmanpreet Singh, Prath backs startups in seed and Series A stages.
The Indian fashion ecommerce market is projected to surpass the expected to grow to $43.2 Bn by 2025, according to an Inc42 report.
Also, the D2C fashion industry has been gaining traction from a lot of investors. For instance, in May, ethnic wear brand Libas raised INR 150 Cr from ICICI Ventures for offline expansion. In the same month, menswear brand DaMENSCH secured INR 21.62 Cr in an extended Series B funding round.
