There are a number of event sites present which primarily aggregates event from various sources/sites where one can search an event. But with the aggregator event sites, the problem remains, as these doesn’t understand your behavior, interest & location to learn once and simplify every time without you having to start from zero.

With the growth of social OS (operating system) having established graphs (Facebook, Twitter primarily) among users which provides millions of data points to establish which events your friend likes /interest, topics that matches with your friends/contacts. For solving this problem and to bring ease for the people while they search for events, Explara has launched a new solution to solve the event discovery in social way! by launching a “Event Discovery Solution” to bring all events at one platform pertaining to users’ interest.

Explara has been AB testing the new features and found over 5000+ events and 10,000 personalization topics were shared by the users.

The newly launched platform helps user customize their events basis their interest on topics like Startup, Marathon, Comedy, Professional Networking, Hiking, Software and other such relevant topics. The new design will allow users to pick up three topics of their interest and follow it for notification through email. The new user’s profile on Explara keeps the user updated about upcoming events, topics they follow and their communities.

Events on Explara now have a ‘Topic” associated. Each of these topics has their own page such as Startups, Marathons and others. Further, it also aggregates events based on locations i.e. Marathon events in New Delhi or all Startup events in Bangalore.

The company is starting up with 2 units a. user’s interest and b. location. It will be soon adding the 3rd element i.e. social graphs (Facebook, Twitter primarily).

While social graphs will be launched in a few weeks, Explara has started offering personalized profile pages (with strong emphasis on public /private profile based on user’s interest) such as Kushanyashah.

Explara has been very innovative with its platform every time. Prior to this, the startup had launched Community Solution platform.

Formerly known as Ayojak, Explara was launched in 2009. The startup raised funding in 2013 from Harvard Business School (HBS) Alumni Angels, Srijan Capital, Blume Ventures and angel investors including Google India MD Rajan Anandan and Kishore Warrier.

The other startups in the domain are 123signup & Meetup.
