EDUGILD Selects 5 Startups For 4th Batch Of EdTech Accelerator

Edtech startup accelerator, EDUGILD has announced the fourth batch of the edtech accelerator. The accelerator has selected five startups for its accelerator programme. The selected startups will be a part of 4-6 months of EDUGILD’s business acceleration programme.

Edugild is the accelerator programme of Pune-based engineering college, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT). As per a company statement, apart from mentoring, EDUGILD will offer participants an access to coworking space, product lifecycle management support, organisation development inputs, UI/UX maturity, and PR strategy. Apart from this, it will provide global scale-up opportunities to the five edtech startups.

Rishi Kapal, Global Strategist and CEO of EDUGILD said “The uniqueness of this batch is the diversity of the startups – ranging from robotics, artificial intelligence, overseas education consultants, virtual labs, creative learning into Film, TV, performing arts, and design. EDUGILD aims to support impressive talent that employs the latest technologies to address education-related challenges and expand existing markets or create new markets globally.”

The five participants were selected out of a lot of 250 applications. To-date EDUGILD has accelerated 16 startups through its accelerator programme in three batches since its launch in June 2015. Most recently, the EDUGILD accelerator announced its third batch of its accelerator programme in March 2017.

From the past cohorts edtech startups Simulanis, AmbitionUp (previously Gradopedia), Classboat, Ahhaa, YoScholar, ProctorEdu have already raised funds. This year the startup has also expanded its partnership horizons to cross borders with EPG UK, Edtech Israel, JMD EDU China and strategic alliances in USA and Australia.

Edvantics:  Hyderabad-based Edvantics was founded by ISB Alumni and Ex Microsoft employees. The startup is creating an ecosystem of products and services, to help educational institutes and students across K-12 and Higher Education. Its initial flagship offering HEDNext is focused on institutes to manage quality and improve faculty productivity. The platform brings institutes, students, campus recruiters and skill providers together to benefit from AI based recommendations in selecting jobs, candidates, courses and careers as per their aptitude.

Know Hassles: Mumbai-based Know Hassles was founded by Harshad Walhekar. It intends to provide accurate solutions to international students’ problems related to the settlement in a foreign land. The mobile app displays a combination of vital information about necessary on arrival processes, social networking based value added services, student specific product marketing and ecommerce shopping experience.

Musein: Bengaluru-based Musein was founded by Goutam Srinivas and Mahesh Yadangi. Musein is a learning and mentorship community for people interested in creative areas like Film, TV, performing arts, design etc. It offers online courses developed by experts in respective creative fields ranging from basic to advanced level.

Vidya Robotics: Pune-based Vidya Robotics is a consumer electronics company. It is developing a host of educational robots for children’s edutainment. Their products aim at enhancing STEM skills in kids above eight years and making learning a fun activity for them.

TrisLabs: Bengaluru-based TrisLabs is an online learning platform that unifies practical and theoretical learning by providing “on the go” virtual labs, helping students, teachers, universities and industry.
