Ecom Express Limited has strengthened its senior leadership team with two key appointments. The Logistics startup has roped in former Hewlett Packard Enterprise executive Jitendar Kumar as chief business officer and Milkbasket’s former COO  Abhinav Imandi as its senior vice president for operations, process excellence and alternate channels.

With these new appointments, the company aims to strengthen  its presence in the Indian market, optimise processes and drive growth. With the amalgamation of Kumar’s business development expertise and Imandi’s operational skills, the company claims to be in the right position to expand, it said in a statement.

In January, Ecom Express roped in former founder of MultiLiving Technologies, Pankaj Singh, as chief commercial officer (CCO).

The development comes days after Inc42 exclusively reported  that Ecom Express is in the last leg to raise around INR 350-400 Cr. Back then the startup said it plans to deploy the capital to double down on reverse logistics and same-day delivery. It counts Warburg Pincus LLC, CDC Group and Partners Group among its existing investors.

In May, the company announced its plans to leverage drones for faster deliveries. The startup also plans to expand the pilot in a staged manner by launching its first drone-based delivery project in Delhi, followed by Bengaluru and Chandigarh, Ecom Express COO Vishwachetan Nadamani told Inc42.

The Delhi NCR-based company has collaborated with drone startup Skye Air for the pilot.

Founded by Late. T.A. Krishnan, Manju Dhawan, K. Satyanarayana and Late. Sanjeev Saxena in 2012, Ecom Express is an end-to-end technology enabled logistics solutions provider to the Indian e-commerce industry.

This comes at a time when Indian players in the logistics space are gaining traction from a lot of investors.

For instance, supply chain planning and logistics startup 3SC recently secured $4 Mn (around INR 33 Cr) to boost its existing artificial intelligence tech stack and scale its operations globally.

As per Inc42’s exclusive report, Bengaluru-based logistics startup Ripplr is looking to raise INR 40 Cr ($4.7 Mn) debt from IPO-bound Northern Arc.
