Quick commerce startup Dunzo’s B2B logistics arm, Dunzo for Business (D4B) has partnered with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to provide last-mile delivery services to local enterprises on the ONDC network.
Dunzo’s B2C arm previously joined the network in May 2022 and initiated a pilot test in six Indian cities.
“Enabling access to hassle-free delivery for local merchants will open up opportunities to service a larger customer base unlocking the growth potential of these businesses. Starting our journey with key metros, we will scale our services to more cities and become the backbone for intra-city deliveries in the Indian e-commerce ecosystem” Dalvir Suri, cofounder of Dunzo, and head of Dunzo for Business (D4B), said.
D4B claims to have a fleet of over 75,000 delivery partners, connecting more than 20,000 merchants to customers. On the back of its multiple years of experience, the partnership with ONDC will add strength to local businesses to accelerate their growth and order volumes through the network, the company said.
According to T Koshy, CEO, ONDC, “This partnership will accelerate the network’s efforts to make last-mile logistics accessible to a wider audience of buyers and sellers across India.”
Recently, Reliance Retail-owned logistics provider Grab also integrated its platform with the ONDC network. Grab will reportedly support intracity hyperlocal deliveries.
Commenting on the development then, Pratish Sanghvi, cofounder of Grab, said, “Currently, we are in the process of initiating the pilot project with the ONDC and it is at a nascent stage. We look forward to growing our partnership with the ONDC and our focus will be to provide a smooth and efficient delivery experience for our clients across sectors.”
The aim of ONDC is to democratise the ecommerce ecosystem for small retailers by bringing them on ecommerce and ecommerce enablers providing onboarding, cataloguing, consumer-facing and logistics needs via third-party integrations.
While it is gearing up to launch in August 2022, ONDC has boarded nine platforms and is in the advanced stage of development of adding another 17 platforms, as per a Business Standard report.
