Mumbai based home services platform Doormint has raised $3 Mn as a part of the series A funding led by Helion Venture partners along with Kalaari Capital. The fresh round of funding comes after the company was seed funded by Powai Lake Ventures in April this year.

The company claims that it will be channelizing the funds to enhance its reach in the Mumbai markets and further plan expansions in the Delhi, Gurgaon and Bengaluru in the next quarter. Cofounder and CEO Abhinav Agarwal told Inc42 that, “We aim to provide affordable, technology driven home solutions to our consumers. The latest investment comes as a major shot in the arm, enabling us to expand and consolidate our service network in Mumbai while also proliferating in other metro cities. We have complete faith that with our superior service penetration and customer-oriented mobile interface, we will establish ourselves as a market leader in the next 6-8 months.”

He further added that “very few players are investing the time, money, and energy into ensuring an end-to-end solution.”

Doormint was started this year and was founded by three IIT alumni in a bid to solve the home service professionals while they were residing in Mumbai. Doormint helps you find domestic help for cleaning services in a jiffy and the best thing is the fact that the staff are subjected to a stringent background verification thus ensuring clean records.

Another appalling aspect of Doormint is that you can schedule cleaner services on demand and if needed they can also arrange for services at regular intervals.

It would be interesting to see how different will be Doormints business plan in India as the once disruptive home services app “HomeJoy” which had bagged a cumulative funding of $40 million simply shut down. HomeJoy couldn’t exercise their control over the workers and were reluctant to provide benefits which finally lead to the meltdown.
