Delhi-based Digital Vidya, a digital marketing training company has acquired Digital Academy India – a leading Indian digital marketing education firm.

Commenting on the acquisition, Pradeep Chopra, CEO & Co-founder of Digital Vidya said, “Having Digital Academy India as a part of our family will further strengthen our leadership position in digital marketing training industry. This acquisition will help us expand our reach and further enhance the quality of our digital marketing certification programs for our customers and partners by leveraging the strengths and experience of Digital Academy India.”

Digital Vidya was founded in 2009 by Delhi IITian and serial entrepreneurs Pradeep Chopra and Kapil Nakra and till now has contributed to the growth of over 6000 professionals from over 3000 brands across Asia through 300+ digital marketing training programs. Certified Digital Marketing Master (CDMM), a digital marketing master certification course offered in association with Vskills, a Govt. of India initiative is Digital Vidya’s flagship course.

The startup also provides customized in-house digital marketing training programs for corporations and has already served over 100 giant organizations such as Philips, Intuit, GE, Cisco, Times Internet, Citibank, Adobe, SAP, Sony, Wipro, EY, Pernod Ricard, Viacom18, and Reliance. Digital Vidya have also partnered with Google and Microsoft in India to get help in increasing their digital marketing growth.

Digital India was founded in August 2012 by the husband-wife entrepreneur duo Gaurav Oberoi and Aditi Oberoi, with their team, have already trained more than 5,000 professionals across the country. Digital Academy’s flagship program, Certification Program in Digital Marketing (CPDM), is a highly coveted digital marketing certification with a project-based approach.

Gaurav Oberoi, shared his views on the acquisition saying, “Through this association, we’re combining the best of two extremely strong players in this industry. This consolidation of expertise in training and certification will create a great learning platform for individuals & organizations wanting to leverage the power of digital marketing. We’re certain that this consolidation would result in tremendous value for both the organizations and their respective clients and partners.”

Post acquisition the management team of Digital Academy India has completely exited the venture. “Gaurav and team have been instrumental in nurturing Digital Academy and creating a strong brand equity. We wish them the best in their future endeavors. Both the brands will continue to co-exist as they offer uniquely different digital marketing training programs,” shares Pradeep Chopra.

According to a report by GroupM, digital advertising will account for 9.51% of overall ad spend of INR 49,000 Cr. in India in 2015. Among various ad channels, Digital will show the fastest growth of 37%. and they will have to play an important role in bridging the gap between available and needed digital marketing talent.
