Snapdeal raises funding from eBay and existing investors

Foodpanda partners with Nokia

Mobile Giant Nokia decides to launch the global food delivery app foodpanda/hellofood across the Nokia Asha, Lumia and X family of devices. Various partners such as Facebook, BBM, Twitter and Line are also making their key apps available across Nokia phones. Foodpanda/hellofood offers a convenient way to view menu and order food with major restaurant franchises around the world. This partnership enables the convenience of online food ordering to millions of Nokia customers.

Foodpanda/hellofood helps restaurants to increase delivery sales through online and mobile platforms and provides them with constantly evolving technology and analytics.

Foodpanda, the largest online food ordering marketplace is currently active in 38 countries. With its collaboration with Nokia,the app aims at becoming a relishing experience for millions of users. Recently it had raised $20 Mn in funding and had also partnered with Openrice for food reviews.

Ankur Capital invests in CropIn, cloud based farm management company

Mumbai based Ankur Capital has invested Rs 50 Lakh in CropIn, a cloud-based farm management systems firm for 30% stake in the company, as per reports.

CropIn was founded in 2010 by Krishna Kumar, it integrates the agricultural sector with Information and communication Technology (ICT) by putting a network of ERP and BI( Business Intelligence)across Rural India and collaborate with the different value chain participants along the supply chain to monitor farm produce status more closely. Its platform has in-built traceability system in it to track the farm produce and consignment status on near real time basis and ensure quality and safety of food for end consumers.  Its Mobile suit of applications help to gather data from field in a near real time manner and make that available in corporate server and helps Agri businesses to assist farmers to follow precision farming.

Odisha Government to launch Mobile health services

In an effort to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Mother Mortality Rate (MMR) in Odisha Government has launched National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) which includes mobile health services – Mobile Kunji and Mobile Academy. Mobile Kunji and Mobile Academy, audio-based training courses, will be implemented across 30 districts of Odisha by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with BBC Media Action, said report.

Nasscom To setup Startup Warehouses

In order to encourage entrepreneurship in the country Nasscom has planned to set up 12 to 15 startup warehouses across various states in the next 12-15 months to support its 10,000 startups programme. It already has a warehouse in Bangalore which offers around 12,000 sq ft for startups, and has a capacity to house 8-10 companies.

“The technology industry in the country has been serving the western world. However, there are enough local problems, which can be solved either through technology or through engineering knowledge. Once the local problem in India is solved, the product can be taken to a global scale”, said Krishnakumar Natarajan, chairman of Nasscom and MD & CEO of Mindtree Ltd.
