Online food Take Away Service – Just Eat buys Rival Meal2Go
UK based, Just Eat Group, which offers online food ordering and table reservation services has bought Meal2Go to improve its electronic point of sale (EPOS) technology. This deal will allow Justeat to offer a central system for managing orders to around 36,000 restaurants signed up to its online ordering service. Both, Justeat and Meal2Go enable customers to order from local providers such as takeaway outlets serving Indian and Chinese food.
Justeat, the London-based Company, founded in 2001, has received more than 100 Mn orders since its launch and generates 700 Mn pounds in annual revenue for the restaurant industry. The company is backed by ventures like Vitruvian Partners, Index Ventures, Greylock partners and Redpoint Ventures and is expected to go for an initial public offering by April or May which will value the company between 700 and 900 Mn pounds.
Justeat’s Indian unit currently has over 2,500 restaurants on board, 52 cuisines and 3 lakh dishes to choose from. Recently, we caught up with its CEO Ritesh Dwivedy to understand the status of online food ordering in India, how Justeat grew and future aspects of the company.
JustRechargeIt partners with Abhibus to launch online bus ticketing
JustRechargeIt has launched its online bus booking platform with ticket inventory from over 1500 operators and 15000 routes. Its customers can book bus tickets by visiting the JustRechargeIt.com/Bus. The booking platform gives results on factors like presence of seats, accessibility, operators, bus type, features and others.
JustRechargeIt Bus services is powered by Abhibus, an online bus ticketing company that facilitates online booking of bus tickets to travelers all over India. Customers can book buses of their choice and make payment by using 80+ payment options; credit/debit/cash card and net banking.
Google launches indoor maps in India
Google has recently launched indoor maps in India that will help users browse through and locate specific locations inside venues like malls and museums. The company has said that the Google Maps on Android, iOS and personal computers will now be able to access the floor plans of 75 places in 22 Indian cities.
The service is already available in countries like the U.S., Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Netherlands.
To date, Google has worked with 75 partners across 22 cities in India to bring indoor maps. Some of the major locations include Ambience Mall in Gurgaon and Select City Walk in Delhi.
Apart from metros, indoor maps will cover locations in cities like Bhopal, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Ludhiana and Moradabad. And it will also be available for National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi, Salar jung museum in Hyderabad and Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
Webengage Unveils new dashboard

Yahoo acquires visual identity startup Vizify
Yahoo has recently acquired a visual identity startup Vizify which was founded by Todd Silverstein, Eli Tucker, and Jeff Cutler-Stamm in 2011. Vizify turns social media data into interactive visual aids such as infographics and videos. Post acquisition, Yahoo will be shutting down its services and will be issuing refunds to its customers.
“We have found in Vizify a company that shares our passion for visualization technology and the user experience,” Yahoo said in a statement Wednesday.
Vizify is based in Portland, Oregon; its five member team has joined Yahoo’s media product organization in San Francisco.
