Chennai Based Everest Edusys has raised Rs 5.7 Cr in Series A funding round led by Lok Capital and Chennai Angels. The new round of funding will be used by the company to set up science laboratories in schools across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
Everest Edusys was founded by Srinivasan in 2011 along with his wife Chokanath Hymavathy. It works closely with schools and has developed a range of tools that have been used at by over 20,000 children in 100 schools so far.
Persistent Systems has recently invested a significant amount of money in Hyginex. Founded by Shiva Swami and Efrat Raichman, Hyginex, Inc. has developed a patented wristband – based technology focused on strengthening healthcare facilities’ hand hygiene programs. The goal is to help these institutions eliminate healthcare associated infections.
The investment through Persistent Venture Fund will allow Hyginex to expand its operations in the U.S. to continue its mission to save lives by helping healthcare facilities improve hand hygiene, says the company.
Shiva Swami, CEO, said, “Through this investment, Persistent would be able to help Hyginex reach its goals of making significant changes in improving patient safety and increasing quality standards in healthcare facilities.”
Bangalore based Skyfi Labs Pvt Ltd, a company that creates education products and services has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Chennai Angels, with participation from Spark Capital, a full-service investment bank headquartered in Chennai. This round of investment was led by Padma Chandrasekaran, a TCA investor member and Vijay Radhakrishnan of Spark Capital.
The company aids Indian engineering college students to get practical and direct training, both online and offline. Till now, they have managed to train over 25,000 students by short-term courses in areas such as robotics, aeromodelling, web and mobile app development, and civil engineering. Skyfi uses its brand courses AerotriX, Civil Simplified, Roboversity and Code Instruct to deliver these programmes.
“We are going to use this knowledge to develop more relevant courses/ products and work on several methods to reach out to colleges. We are going to invest further on R&D and course development. We also plan to work with corporate partners to develop these courses and bring more opportunities for our students,” said Pavan Ponnaganti, CEO of Skyfi Labs.
