As the festive season comes up, ecommerce websites are lining up a series of discounts and offers never seen before in the Indian market. The response has been nothing short of phenomenal, with deals getting exhausted quicker than they can come in, and e-commerce websites coming down with unexpectedly high traffic.

Not just the customers, coupon and Cashback sites are also having a field day. We at CashKaro.com had a busy weekend and quite the day on Oct 6th, where we witnessed some interesting consumer trends :

300% increase in transactions

There has been a 300% increase in the number of transactions during the festive period as compared to the rest of the year! That is due to the wide array of discounts and promotions offered to bring new shoppers online and drive repeat purchases. Amazon’s resolve to establish its presence in India has further heated up the competition. CashKaro.com offered Double Cashback of up to 21% on all Amazon.in orders, which was very popular. Just for going to Amazon.in via CashKaro.com, shoppers got extra savings, which enabled them to save over 80% on many orders.

High Traffic from Tier II Cities

The top 5 metros (Delhi /NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata) continued to dominate along with the upcoming metro cities such as Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. Surprisingly, this year there was equally good traffic from Tier II/small towns such as Pimpri Chinchwad, Ernakulam and Bhubaneswar.

The Amazon ‘Dhamaka’ and the Flipkart Euphoria

We saw a 400% increase in transactions on Amazon.in during their ‘Mission to Mars Celebration Dhamaka’. Traffic on CashKaro.com was higher, with an equal number of new and repeat visitors. There was a similar increase on Flipkart on ‘Big Billion Day’ and the overall shopping euphoria is like what it was during Google Online Shopping Festival 2013. Also, the average order values increased as people took advantage of the big discounts and shopped for big ticket items like laptops and TVs. The highest traffic was on Amazon.in, Flipkart and Snapdeal. The demographic breakup was 75% male and 25% female.

The most popular retailers, offers & categories

Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Day’ (6th October) offered huge discounts. Bestsellers included iPad Mini 16GB at Rs 8,000 off for only Rs 13,900, Moto E at 27% off for Rs 5,499, Flat 60% off Perfumes, and Flat 90% off cameras.

Amazon.in ‘Mission to Mars Celebration Dhamaka’, which ran this past weekend, saw some of the best offers we have ever come across. iPhone 5S was sold at 44% off, for only Rs. 29,999, and CashKaro.com gave an extra 5% Cashback on top of this. Top-selling offers included Flat 50% Off Books + 21% Cashback from CashKaro.com, Flat 60% off Shoes + 21% Cashback, 10% off Gift Cards + 7% Cashback.

Snapdeal’s Buy 1 Get 1 Free offers have been heavily advertised on TV & are gaining popularity, plus Extra Up to 10% Cashback from CashKaro.com

The charm of shopping through CashKaro.com was that all our Cashback was paid over and above discounts that were running so it was a great cherry on top for consumers! People are making the most of this Diwali season offers, and we at CashKaro.com of course love it!
